Entrepreneurs’ Society (ES) is here to help you develop and launch your startup while being part of the entrepreneurship ecosystem throughout the Business Plan Competition (BPC)! Through 5 exciting and informative sessions, you will be able to launch your startup and compete for a 50,000 LE seed fund to scale it!
We had an interview with Jenny El Boushy, Vice President for Community Development, and Nadine Abd ElAal, External Community Development Manager, discussing ES and its upcoming competition.
What is Entrepreneurs’ Society?
In brief, Entrepreneurs’ Society is a student-led organisation that has been highly active in the entrepreneurial ecosystem for 14 years. We aim to tackle youth’s hesitation to start their own businesses and promote entrepreneurship through empowering, fostering and developing the youth. We also aim to bridge the gap between existing stakeholders in the entrepreneurial hub, in order to have a stronger impact on the community.
How does the Business Plan Competition work?
Aside from the 5 sessions necessary to develop a thorough Business Model and the 50,000 grand prize for the winner, participants get to be mentored by experienced entrepreneurs, meet with investors and potential partners and secure resources giving them the chance to turn their dreams into reality through proper exposure.
Each participating team will have a chance to experience the roller coaster life of an entrepreneur! You will get a chance to participate with their prototype in theES Jamboree, which is a one-day entrepreneurial carnival for startups to showcase their products to the AUC community. They then pitch their Business Model to a panel of esteemed entrepreneurs, investors and key ecosystem players, which is reviewed by venture capitalists and judges from the best institutions around the country.
All other participants are monitored and assisted to carry out their business ideas whether they make it to the final round or not! Some BPC Alumni that carried on with their idea after completing the competition are: Tyro by Mokhtar Osman, Upfuse by Rania Rafie & Yara Yassin, as well as Cairositters by Hossam Taher. These are just to name a few!
