It’s THAT Time of the Year AGAIN!

“Christmas isn’t all about what’s under the tree, it’s about who’s gathered around it.”

Yup, it’s true, IT’S TIME FOR CHRISTMAS!!

Every year when November starts,  everyone gets ready and excited for the Christmas season. Malls start playing Christmas songs, shops start decorating, making you feel the Christmas spirit, and parents start thinking about what presents they’ll bring to their children and friends. Kids get excited for the presents they’ll receive. It’s the time of the year where you decorate the Christmas Tree with your family, make popcorn, gather around and watch Home Alone.

However, Christmas isn’t just a casual holiday season. It is a Christian holiday honouring the birth of The Christ, celebrated on the 25th of December in the Western churches, and on the 7th of January in the Eastern churches.

The message of Christmas is “Peace on Earth” as in fact, it is also the message of the Holy Bible.

Here in Egypt, ever since we were kids, we were raised on certain morals; loving and respecting everyone as it is not always about the presents, it is also about appreciating what we have. With every year we grow up, we learn that Christmas isn’t only about gathering with people, it’s about appreciating them and giving more than receiving.

Christmas isn’t only for Christians. Muslims too, get excited on celebrating it with their friends. Sometimes they get more excited on that amazing occasion, with the new trend of the “Secret Santa” game  that all friends enjoy playing to feel appreciated and loved.

We were all raised on Christmas songs, from “Rocking around the Christmas tree” by Brenda Lee, to the famous “Jingle Bell Rock” by Bobby Helms, and to the latest Christmas songs; “Mistletoe” by Justin Bieber back in 2011 and BBC’s band aid 30’s “Do they know it’s Christmas?” back in 2014.

Christmas is about focusing the participants on giving, family gatherings, and catching up with friends. It’s about making memories!!

This year, Christmas depends on you! You still have the chance to spread hope for a better tomorrow as the spirit of Christmas is “Peace” and the heart of Christmas is “Love”.

It’s that time of the year again, it’s time to make a difference and spread Peace, Love and Joy. So, Merry Christmas!
