This year’s case study was “Can you build a scalable, sustainable, social enterprise that harnesses the power of energy to transform the lives of 10 million people by 2025?

The stages of the competition include an “on campus” level, followed by competing with teams from all over the world in the “Regionals phase” that takes place in 15 cities including Cairo, Mexico City, London and San Francisco. The winners from the regionals phase then qualify for “the grand finale” that takes place in the UN headquarters in New York and the winning team is granted $1,000,000 to execute their idea.
