10th International “Mobile Mapping for Sustainable Development” Conference

The Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport organized the  opening ceremony of the 10th international conference on Mobile Mapping Technology which took place at Conrad hotel in Cairo at the 6th of May. The conference was under the auspices of Ahmed Aboelgheit the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Engineer Yasser Elkady Egyptian Minister ofCommunication and Information Technology and Professor Khaled Atef Abdelghafar the Egyptian Minister of Higher Education.

The ceremony welcomed high delegations which included Doctor Mohamed El-Assar Minister of State for Military Production, Engineer Yasser Elkady the Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Ambassador Nabila Makram Wasef the Minister if Immigration and Egyptian

Expatriates Affairs, General Mohamed Kamal El-Daly the Governor of Giza, Professor Ismail Abdel Ghafar Ismail Farag the honorary chair of the conference and the President of Arab Academy for Science, Technolgy and Maritime Transport, Professor Nasser El-Sheimy the conference General Chair, Professor Christian Heipke the President International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing and Dr. Chrissy Poitsou the President of the International Federation of Surveyors.

This year’s conference is the result of the joint collaboration between Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, International Federation of Surveyors, International Association of Geodesy and the International Cartographic Association.

The conference carried on as each professor and chairperson gave their outstanding speeches. “The great pyramids and the great wall of China are the first two things that come in your mind when you think of great human constructions” declared Professor Christian Hepkie the President of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing. Ambassador Nabila Makram the Minister of Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affair also announced that “Egypt is a safe place and I recommend our fellow visitors to visit Egypt’s touristic places to explore it’s wonderful views”.

Dr. Ismail Abdelghafar President of the Arab Academy honored the welcomed delegations by handing them the trophies of the conference and the trophies of the Academy.

An important activity that took place during the conference was the signing of the MOU between the AAST and Shenzhen and signing the MOU between AAST and NCKU and the exchange of universities.
